We always meet some problems in our daily lives. Those problems sometimes make us think "I should have prepared it before." The very first 4 letter expression is for this situation. It is called "유비무환," meaning "If you are thoroughly prepared already, then you don't have to worry about it later."

This expression has a really long history. It goes back to Spring and Autumn Period of China. It started in 770 B.C. Duke Dao of Jin had a wise prime minister, Wei Jiang. He helped him make Jin the strongest nation in that period under his reign.

Wei Jiang said that "We should think dangers when we are in peace. Then, we are well prepared. If we are prepared, the anxieties will be gone." 유비무환 came from this part, "If you are prepared, the anxieties will be gone."

항상 사고가 나면 유비무환의 마음가짐이 부족했다고 한다. 하지만 실제로 그렇게 해 보려고 하면 너무 해야 할 것이 많다 보니 다들 하나 둘씩 무시하다가 사고가 나는 것 같다.
Whenever the accident occurs we say that we lacked the mind of thorough preparation. However, if we try to prepare for everything, we usually ignore one or two because of its mountainous workload and the accidents happen.

예전에 구글 데이터 센터에 화재가 일어난 적이 있었다. 구글은 유비무환의 자세로 데이터를 항상 백업해 놓았기 때문에 그런 일이 있었다는 것조차 모르는 사람들이 많다.
There once was a fire on Google data center. As Google always makes backups of their data to prepare for their rainy days, many people even don't know about that accident.

항상 유비무환의 정신으로 경기장 밖에 구급차를 대기시켜 놓았기 때문에, 부상을 당한 선수를 빨리 치료할 수 있었다.
As they always set an ambulance ready to prepare for some unexpected accidents, they could cure the injured athlete fast enough.
